A new study published in Diabetes suggests that turning on the air conditioner or turning down the heat in winter may help us burn belly fat while we sleep. Colder temperatures subtly enhance the effectiveness brown fat in our body.
According to Dr. Andrew Weil, turning down the thermostat in winter and turning up the air conditioner in summer might result in some weight loss (of these two choices, the former is better for the environment, as it conserves energy). If that’s all you’re doing, the amount you’ll lose over the course of a year might be 4 kilos, if the studies are correct, but don’t forget to eat right and exercise regularly if you’re serious about losing weight.
